Start with your average load. This planning estimate is not a runtime guarantee. Wh = volts × Ah. Adjusted Wh = Wh × factor / 100. Runtime = adjusted Wh ÷ load watts. Current draw matters more than thrust
Use the motor manufacturer’s actual continuous and startup-current requirements. ZM12100 is rated at 100A continuous and 300A for 3 seconds peak; the peak rating is not a sustained operating target. A motor’s thrust rating alone does not confirm compatibility.
Measure average load at the speed and boat load you normally use. Wind, weeds and water current can raise demand substantially. Use the calculator for your measured average watts, and check maximum current separately.
Wiring, fuse and connectors
Follow the motor manufacturer’s cable and protective-device specifications. Cable sizing depends on circuit current, round-trip length, allowed voltage drop, insulation temperature and installation environment. Use a properly rated fuse or breaker near the battery as specified for the circuit, matched connectors and protected terminals. Have a qualified marine installer review the complete circuit when requirements are unclear.
Charging and cold-weather use
Use a LiFePO4-compatible charger with the approved 14.6V charge voltage; standard charge current is 20A and maximum is 100A. Check all equipment ratings. Charging range is 0°C to 50°C; exact-model testing observed cutoff behavior around 0°C. That observation is not a self-heating feature or a complete BMS threshold specification.
Deep-cycle power, not engine starting
ZM12100 is for compatible 12V deep-cycle systems. Keep the engine-starting battery separate. IP65 testing passed dust and water-jet tests; it does not permit immersion. Secure mounting and protected, corrosion-resistant connections remain essential.

Can I choose by motor thrust alone?
No. Confirm voltage, continuous and startup current, charger compatibility, protection and the motor manufacturer’s battery requirements.
Are the runtime figures guaranteed?
No. They use 1088Wh and a constant average load; real operation changes with speed, conditions and losses.
Can I start the engine with this battery?
